Love camping but not the roughing-it part? At this scenic resort, glamping is the answer

When glamping came on the scene, it was like a miracle for people who love the idea of camping but don’t love the roughing-it part. At Point Sebago Resort, four two-bedroom glamping tents include everything from a private bathroom pod and electric fireplace to air conditioning, a microwave, sink and small fridge. Then there are the single and double-decker container cottages nestled in the woods by the water, with bathrooms and basic appliances. Glamping guests enjoy privacy as well as opportunities to socialize around group fire pits. Resort amenities and activities include an 18-hole golf course, tennis and bocce courts, a waterpark obstacle course and other lake activities including fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming. There are programs for the kids, an on-site restaurant and two lounges.

Also: Located near Sebago Lake in the foothills of the White Mountains. Come enjoy panoramic views while picking apples and pumpkins. Restrooms and picnic area available. Near Douglas Mountain hiking. Follow signs from Rte 107 to Orchard Road. Restrooms available.

Shoppers here can buy everything from lobsters to homemade soap and aprons as well as traditional offerings such as fresh produce and flowers. And if they get tired, they can relax by getting a chair massage or a hand, face and scalp massage.

Cumberland Summer Market is at 290 Tuttle Road outside Cumberland Town Hall; mid-May to late October; Saturdays, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.;

Falmouth Summer Market is at 22 Hat Trick Drive next to Casco Bay Arena; mid-May to late October; Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Fresh produce, natural meats, seafood, cheeses and dairy products as well as showcase breads, local crafts, and live music.

Winter dates and hours: Online (temporarily closed)

The market features a great number of products such as fruits and vegetables in season, artisan breads and cheeses, meats, eggs, plants and flowers, honey and maple products, Maine-made crafts and fibers.

Dates and hours: May - October, Saturdays 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

PYO Crop: Apples. Many varieties to choose from including Paula Reds, Macs, Cortlands, Macouns, Red Delicious, Spensers, Mutsus, Honey Crisps and Northern Spys.

Season: Labor Day to Christmas

Also: Farm stores sells apple baking mixes, syrups and granolas, cider.

PYO Crop: Hansel’s Orchard is a family-run orchard that features McIntosh, Cortland and Macoun apple varieties. In September, the McIntosh apples are ripe for the picking. The Cortland and Macoun apples are ready in late September through October. Pre-picked apples are available for purchase.

Season and Hours: Mid-September through October on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Wednesdays, 1-5 p.m.
